| FIND OUT Much work has been done to redesign Page Moss library based on developing people's reading appetite and using ideas from bookshops such as Waterstones and Dillons. The library is now more user-friendly and much more welcoming. Lots of new books have been bought for young adults, especially men, and the library also has a whopping 70 magazine titles, which can be borrowed. Various events have been held throughout the year, one of the most successful being the 'Exotic Animals' day when the library was full of snakes and spiders! 185 people attended the event. The library now runs a number of courses for young people: guitar and keyboard lessons, a watercolour painting class and a new course for young parents 'Survive 'til they're five'. Parents on this course will become a focus group for the library, selecting new books and being involved in the creation of a new under 5's area within the library. Plans are afoot for reading groups for both adults and children, and collections of books will be put in local youth clubs and the Community College to encourage students to read for pleasure rather than just for study. |

| JOIN UP Anyone can join Knowsley libraries-there is no age limit and you don't have to live in Knowsley. You need to call in to any library to join and can then use your membership card at any of the seven branches. You need one form of ID-something with printed address on (utility bill, family allowance book etc). You will receive your membership card and a 'Welcome Pack' which details all of the library services and regular events, activities etc. Your card entitles you to borrow 20 items-books, mags, videos, dvd, talking books. |
