| FIND OUT Oldham’s outreach worker, Paula Tighe worked in 3 libraries, Broadway, Chadderton and Fitton Hill and organised special areas within those libraries with computers, sofas, books, magazines and information noticeboards. Her work achieved success in libraries working with the Youth service which is still continuing. Everybody’s Reading has continued in Oldham with collections introduced into all 14 libraries. These collections are designed to be eye-catching and easily borrowed and reflect the reading interests of young adults, including graphic novels. 2 workshops have resulted from the project to date with poets Kwame Dawes and Francesca Beard. A further workshop in puppet making and story time skills for teenage mothers has aimed at increasing their children’s literacy skills. This has led to partnership working with the Brook Advice Agency |
