Event 3
Event 3 title: Lord of the Rings Event date: To be confirmed description: This new initiative is encouraging hundreds of new teenage library users by capitalising on the current craze for Lord of the Rings. Two libraries in Wirral will hold themed gaming sessions in collaboration with Games Workshop, who have produced the strategy battle game which accompanies the recently released film. Games Workshop staff will use sessions in libraries throughout the country to talk teenagers through the rules, play the game alongside them and encourage them to make their own epic journey into the unknown - by suggesting some related reading material such as fantasy and adventure books. It is hoped that the initiative will be particularly effective in encouraging teenage boys to read more - a group who are traditionally very difficult for libraries to attract. venue: West Kirby Library, West Kirby Concourse, West Kirby, CH48 4HX cost: free booking: 0151 625 6381 and venue: Bromborough Library, Allport Road, Bromborough, CH62 7HR cost: free booking: 0151 334 1650 |
