01
The Tesseract by Alex Garland

Night falls in Manila, and Sean waits for gangster Don Pepe in a deserted, roach-infested hotel. He could die tonight, and anyone who strays into his path could end up dead too: a Filipino family in the suburbs, a gang of street kids. In a few hours their destinies will violently collide.
02
Bend It Like Beckham by Narinder Dham

Jess's parents want her to a nice Indian girl. But she has other plans. She wants to play football. After all, anyone can cook aloo gobi, but who can bend it like Beckham?
03
A Shocking Accident: stories with a sting in the tail by Sara Corrin and Eve Corrin

A heart which death cannot silence. A pig that falls from the sky. A rocking-horse that brings mixed fortune. This collection contains short stories that are surprising, shocking, amusing, terrifying, each with a sting in its tail.
04
Cracks by Sheila Kohler

Forty years after a schoolgirl mysteriously disappears into the South African veld, 13 members of the missing girl's swimming team gather for a reunion at their old boarding school. As teenage memories and emotions resurface, the women relive the horror of a long-buried secret.
05
The Autograph Man by Zadie Smith

Alex is "one of this generation who watch themselves", and comes on to the scene during a wrestling match. When Alex's father dies, Alex needs to search for a replacement to fill the gulf. His other obsessions are tracking down, buying and selling autographs and his girlfriend Esther who has "hair plaited like a puzzle". From the author of White Teeth.
06
Stoner and Spaz by Ron Koertge

If you were nicknamed "Spaz" because of cerebral palsy wouldn’t you be a real loner? Ben is looked after by his straight-laced grandmother as if he were still a small child: his only escape is the decrepit Rialto Theatre, where he watches old movies. The last person he wants to meet there is drugged up Colleen.
07
Junk by Melvin Burgess

Believable and rivetingly readable, this is the best book about lives injected with heroin.
08
Refugee Boy by Benjamin Zephaniah

This is the story of Alem, the son of an Ethiopian father and Eritrean mother, who is alone in London. What is Alem's fate as he is moved from children's home to foster family, and in and out of court hearings?
09
The Other Side of Truth by Beverley Naidoo

Sade and her brother Femi have to flee Nigeria when their mother is killed and their father won't stop criticizing the military rulers. The woman paid to bring them to London as her children, abandons them and they are alone in a new, often hostile, environment.
10
City of the Beasts by Isabel Allende

Fifteen-year-old Alexander Cold and his grandmother - a fearless reporter - are going to the Amazon rainforest to search for a fabled headhunting tribe and a legendary, marauding "Beast". Here they find out much, much more about the mysteries of the jungle and its inhabitants.
11
Speeding by Cann, Kate

When Bonnie hears that her best friend has got involved with a weird cult in Scotland, she knows she's got to bring her home. Even if that means an epic road trip with boyfriend Rich in tow. Rich isn't too keen to go, especially with Bonnie's high-maintenance, weirdo mum following close behind.

Destiny's Child
Survivor

What a fab R & B album by Destiny's child. It's got attitude and my favourite tracks are Nasty Girl and Bootylicious. Get hip hopping people!

02
Linkin Park
Hybrid Theory

Hybrid Theory was Linkin Parks debut album. The raw energy from this six-member band is phenomenal. Even though this was their debut album it went multi-platinum. And chiselled their name and sound into music history. The twelve songs contain a blend of Hip-Hop, alternative metal and turntable art.

03
Justin Timberlake
Justified

Coming from being the youngest member of the band ‘N sync Justin Timberlake has come of age with his album Justified. This sophisticated solo debut finds the 21-year-old embracing his R&B/HIP-HOP artist while never completely forgetting his roots that lie in the world of Pop. Justin Timberlake once said, "My voice is my most prized possession." How true…

04
Robbie Williams
Escapology

It’s been a year since Mr Williams was in the guise of Frank Sinatra with his ‘Swing When You’re Winning’ album, and now he is back with Escapology. The album has more delights than any other of Robbie’s albums, such as Feel the first single to be released off the album that uses drum patterns from the late 80’s band Soul 2 Soul. All we can say is that Robbie has done it again.

05
Jamiroquai
A Funk Odyssey

A personal offering from the Buckinghamshire Space Cowboy. If you are already a fan you will love the development of the music, if this is your first Jamiroquai album you will love yourself for choosing it.

06
Pink
M!ssundaztood

M!ssundaztood is, and should be a debut album to be listened to. The R'n'B/Hip Hop roots are still strong but excels in versatility. Pink is on a roller coaster of attitude and she is willing to take us to. "Get The Party Started", with its infectious rhythm is a fantastic opener. If you know anyone who says they can’t dance Nurse Pink has the medicine to cure them from such illnesses. For the people who buy this album on the strength of 'Get The Party Started', disappointment will not be on the agenda.

07
Sugarbabes
Angels with Dirty Faces

Angels With Dirty Faces is only the second album in their short career. After one of the founding members left and the first album flopped as well as being dropped from their record label, the Sugarbabes are on their way to becoming one of Pops versatile all female bands. On the whole, Angels… is far more accomplished than their debut. Being in a league of their own the Sugarbabes are going from strength to strength building each single with a lyrical style not found in most female Pop bands.

Liberty X
Thinking it Over

Liberty X are Jessica, Kevin, Michelle, Tony and Kelli these names don’t jump out and hit you with a image of Pop stardum, but their sound will! After being the five that didn’t make it into ‘Hear'Say’ (thank God!). They got together, wrote their own material, and set about finding themselves a record deal. Which didn’t take long. All talented and with a willingness to survive the trap doors of the Pop world. With this album they will be in no fear of falling down any. To listen to this album is a must!
