Blogging in the Age of Intolerance

September 29, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

In January, 12 cartoonists, writers and staff working for French magazine, Charlie Hebdo, were killed by fundamentalist gunmen. In Bangladesh a blogger was murdered for ER Images (11)promoting secular ideas. In Saudi Arabia another blogger was sentenced to ten years in gaol and 1,000 lashes for blogging about free speech. Tolerance clearly isn’t what it was. Internationally renowned Iranian born writer, blogger and campaigner Maryam Namazie, a former secularist of the year, talks about the vital importance of protecting freedom of expression and the right to argue without fear against bigotry and any attempts by fundamentalists to impose their views on others and censor words, speech and images.
